Stylish Bathroom in Royal Herbert Pavilions

The Brief: Helen and Michael came to see our team at our Charlton showroom just before the first lockdown of the pandemic in March 2020. They wanted to discuss renovating the bathroom in their London home in Eltham, where Helen stays for work during the week. The existing bathroom was a simple space in need of modernising, with a shower over bath, a small bathroom unit, plain walls and an ineffective use of the space. Having next used the bath, the couple wanted to remove it altogether and replace it with a large walk in shower. Helen was keen to include wet room flooring as she wanted the flooring to be flush with the rest of the room, creating a smooth and stylish finish. Storage was important to the couple, and they felt their current bathroom didn’t offer enough of this. Therefore this was an important element to consider when choosing how to plan the bathroom to maximise usability.

Our interior designer Agnes conducted a visit to the property and met with Helen. Here they had an in-depth talk about what the couple would like the space to look like, how they needed it to work practically and what designs and colours they liked. Agnes showed them various projects we’ve worked on recently on the tablet to get a feel for what appealed to them, then she took pictures of the existing bathroom and the measurements.

In the following week Agnes created a design for them encompassing all they’d spoke about, however once the restrictions came into place, Helen and Michael wanted to put the project on hold whilst they returned to their permanent home in Scotland.

Last year they returned to us and wanted to go ahead with the renovation. They still loved the design Agnes had created, and after a few small changes were made, such as to the colour of the tiles, we booked them in with one of trusted installers.

The Design: After the visit to their home, Agnes created a bathroom design with our CAD technology, incorporating every element of what they’d requested. It was clear with what the customers wanted that the room would need to be changed around, so she repositioned some elements of the room to make the most of the space available. With the shower now along the back wall, this allowed the space to include a generous amount of built in storage and two bathroom mirror cabinets, meaning they would have the space they wanted for storage. Agnes also included some recess shelving in the shower for their toiletries. More colour was added to the design in the form of bright tiles, and as the couple had requested a modern space Agnes choose products that would lend well to this style.

The Installation: Our installer Kapser worked on this project for Helen and Michael. They wanted to have the bathroom installation take place whilst they were out of the country, and trusted us to have a key to the property and work in their home whilst they were away over Christmas. When they returned the bathroom was complete and they were over the moon with the results. By choosing us for their installation, they were able to have their bathroom renovation completed with minimal stress or disruption and have us organise and handle the whole project, from design right through to the finished results.
